Mediation
Mediation is a dispute resolution process in which the parties to a family law matter jointly engage a neutral family law attorney to help them reach mutually satisfactory agreements regarding their future legal and financial relationship.
Mediation involves one or more office conferences attended by both parties. Issues are identified at the beginning of the first meeting, and thereafter attention is turned to negotiating an equitable and pragmatic resolution of those issues.
The mediation process is based on good faith and fair dealing. Consequently, full and voluntary disclosure of relevant information and documents is required, and a flexible and business like approach to problem solving is essential.
The mediator is ordinarily responsible for preparing and filing court documents in divorce cases and for drafting premarital and postmarital agreements in non divorce cases.
Mr. Carter provides end to end mediation services covering all aspects of family law, including:
- Asset and debt division
- Custody and parenting
- Child and spousal support
- Premarital and postmarital agreements
Collaboration with professionals in areas such as financial planning, real estate, business, child development, tax, and estate planning is available as requested.
